Higher Education Institutions have vast amounts of information about staff and students, which is collected and used for the purposes of employment and the provision of student services.
There are occasions where internal sharing of this information can be helpful, and many institutions will have received requests from external bodies such as the police, student loans company and local authorities requesting information relevant to their purposes.
Join our information law experts who will take you through some practical examples, and the data protection considerations to think about when faced with these requests. Both in terms of reacting to specific requests, but also setting up processes to allow future sharing where that is helpful.
