I am a medical law specialist offering advice and advocacy across all aspects of healthcare law. Prior to joining Bevan Brittan, I spent six years as a barrister in chambers specialising in clinical negligence, personal injury and employment law. I have extensive advocacy experience and I am proficient at drafting complex legal documents.
I support clients through the inquest process and provide representation at the inquest itself. My background in clinical negligence work means I am particularly well placed to anticipate lines of questioning from other legal representatives. I have experience of complex inquests including where article 2 is engaged and those involving related investigations by the police and other regulatory bodies. I advise clients regarding the risks of associated enforcement action, including criminal prosecutions.
I specialise in Court of Protection matters, from straightforward s.21A challenges to test cases seeking to clarify the law. I assist clients with all aspects of the court process: from providing advice on the Mental Capacity Act and representing clients at best interests meetings/round table discussions through to drafting court documents and representing clients in court.
I also assist clients defending judicial review challenges and provide training to healthcare professionals on a wide range of matters.
