Community interest companies

Within our commercial healthcare team are lawyers with specific expertise in advising Community Interest Companies (CICs).

It’s legal support that helps CICs deal with contentious and non- contentious issues involving day-to-day queries, as well as large-scale projects, and questions of governance and regulation. And it is support that benefits from our medical law experience and our long-standing role as advisors to the NHS. We regularly act on inquests, for example, and represent our clients in Care Quality Commission investigations and proceedings.

Our work with CICs often begins with advice on organisational structure and formation, but it rarely ends there. Much of what we do is advising on ongoing commercial arrangements, particularly with local authorities, and opportunities for best delivering the health and social benefits that set CICs apart from others in the sector.
