National law firm Bevan Brittan announces its financial results for 2023/24, achieving revenue of £76.2m and recording both revenue and profit growth for the eleventh consecutive year.

Income rose by a record-high of 13% to £76.2m in the year ending 30 April, up from £67.3m in the previous 12 months. Throughout the eleven years of growth, revenue has more than doubled, rising by 133%. Growth was achieved across a wide range of markets, notably Higher Education (up by 37%), Independent Health & Care (32%) and Central & Local Government (24%).

Profit was up 11.2% to £18.9m in 23/24, a rise of 208% over the last eleven years. 

The business attracted a number of significant new clients and 32 senior lateral hires, including eight Partners, during the financial year. Record promotions in May recognised 38 colleagues and created five new Partners. This means that for the first time more than half of the firm’s Partners are women.

During the reported 12-month period, Bevan Brittan supported clients across its chosen markets. Within the Housing market it advised both Peabody on the South Thamesmead redevelopment, and Platform Housing on two sustainability-linked loans worth a combined £275m. It also secured reappointment to Sanctuary Group’s Legal Services Framework.

Our Energy & Resource Management team advised on projects across the solar, battery storage, EV infrastructure, district energy, carbon capture and energy from waste sectors. This includes advising Boom Power on a 400MW solar farm in East Yorkshire, Birmingham City Council on their £490m Waste PPP project and Legal & General on a district energy project in London. The team’s new clients include Bring Energy, Char.gy and Western Riverside Waste Authority. 

Central & Local Government teams supported on Bristol’s £95m Temple Quarter regeneration project and gained Strategic Legal Partner appointments with Wolverhampton City Council and the West of England Combined Authority. 

Work within Higher Education included advising a FTSE 100 global education company on a strategic disposal and securing appointment to the University of Plymouth’s legal panel through the Crown Commercial Service framework. 

In Financial Services, experts supported on a multi-million pound project with NS&I and secured reappointment to advise the Financial Conduct Authority.

Our market-leading health experts’ work included winning a landmark appeal in the Supreme Court, advising NHS England on the procurement of five community diagnostic centres in the South West, and supporting We Change Lives and Mysa Care in their acquisitions.

Bevan Brittan announced in May that it had promoted a record-breaking 38 colleagues across its four offices, including five new Partners, a Legal Director, 13 Senior Associates and 19 Associates.

The business provided a wide-range of pro bono support in the financial year, including for The Rob Burrow Centre for MND, and donated £100,000 to charitable causes to be shared equally between its four office charities.

Amongst awards success across its markets and regions, Bevan Brittan was recognised as one of The Times’ Best Law Firms for the sixth consecutive year.
