• I am an experienced civil litigation lawyer specialising in social housing litigation and landlord and tenant disputes. I have acted on behalf of local authority clients in relation to a range of matters, in particular defending large volumes of housing disrepair claims, recovering unpaid service charges, possession claims and judicial reviews.

I also have extensive experience acting for tenants under the legal aid scheme.  This allows me to comprehensively advise clients regarding the strengths and weaknesses of their case.

I am an experienced advocate representing clients in the county court, magistrates’ court and First Tier Tribunal. Furthermore, I have written and delivered training in relation to Housing Disrepair, Equality Act 2010 and Homes (Fitness for Habitation) Act 2018.

    • I acted for a local authority in a possession action based on rent arrears.  The tenant counterclaimed for disrepair, which I successfully defended.  The local authority was awarded possession and £50,000 costs.
    • I acted for a local authority successfully pursuing a developer in the High Court for breach of a section 106 agreement.  The developer was ordered to pay £800,000 due under the agreement, and the local authority was awarded £65,000 costs.
    • I successfully defended the tenant in the Court of Appeal case of Superstrike Ltd v Marino Rodrigues [2013] EWCA Civ 669. This led to changes to all three national tenancy deposit schemes.
