UK-Top 100 law firm Bevan Brittan is donating £10,000 to national charity Bowel Cancer UK this Christmas.
The donation will go towards providing vital services for the UK’s leading charity for bowel cancer. £10,000 will ensure that everyone affected by bowel cancer has someone to lean on during these challenging times and can access trusted information and support. It will also support vital bowel cancer research to help secure the advances that are desperately needed.
Each year, staff from each of Bevan Brittan’s offices in Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds and London vote for a charity to support. Many of the charities are chosen due to personal connections with members of staff and their families. The firm’s Birmingham Office selected Bowel Cancer UK this year following the sad passing of a colleague’s brother to the disease earlier in the year; aged just 47, he tragically left behind his wife and seven children.
Commenting on the donation, Head of the firm’s Birmingham Office, Adrian Dagnall, said:
“I am delighted that we are able to offer some extra support after what has been a very challenging year for Bowel Cancer UK and the people they look after. £10,000 will make a real difference at Christmas and we are proud to support such a worthy cause with this donation.
“Community engagement is a big part of our culture at the firm and we play an active role in local communities in Birmingham and the Midlands, through both individual and collective fundraising activities as well as pro bono work. We will look forward to continuing to fundraise and support our Birmingham Office charity in 2021.”
Luke Squires, Director of Fundraising at Bowel Cancer UK, said: “We are thrilled to receive this generous donation from Bevan Brittan, and extremely grateful to have been their Birmingham Office 2020 Charity of the Year partner. The pandemic has made this year an incredibly difficult one for us as a charity, and for those affected by the disease.
“Bowel cancer is the UK’s second biggest cancer killer but if diagnosed early, it can be treatable and curable. With companies like Bevan Brittan leading the way and supporting us, together we can help stop people dying from this dreadful disease.”
Bevan Brittan is donating a total of £40,000 across its local office charities this Christmas, with each of its four offices giving £10,000 to the causes they support throughout the year.
