National law firm Bevan Brittan has continued its impressive growth with the recruitment of a new employment Partner, further strengthening its national health and care practice.

Joanna Burrows’ arrival from Mills & Reeve comes as employers brace themselves for a raft of new legislation that will take effect in October, following the election of the new Government.

With substantial experience of advising NHS bodies and public sector health clients on the full range of employment law matters, Joanna will play a key role in advising Bevan Brittan’s growing health and care practice. The firm’s clients will benefit from her specialist expertise in medical staffing and performance management issues, and her ability to advise NHS employers on doctors’ capability, ill health and disciplinary matters under the Maintaining High Professional Standards framework.

Joanna has also acted for independent health and social care providers and managed complex multi-day Tribunal cases involving discrimination and whistleblowing allegations.

Jodie Sinclair, Senior Partner at Bevan Brittan and Head of its Employment, Pensions and Immigration department, said: “Joanna will be a core Partner in our growing national healthcare practice.

“With a new Government in place, and new legislation due to affect public and private sector health and care employers, she will enhance the breadth, depth and experience of our specialist team as it supports clients to successfully navigate the changing employment landscape.

“Joanna is another high quality addition to our team and our wider business, with her arrival demonstrating our ability to attract the best people to support our growing client base.”

Joanna added: “I am delighted to have joined Bevan Brittan’s market-leading health and care employment team, which supports some of the largest independent health, care and NHS organisations across the country.

“It is exciting to be part of a progressive, responsible business with ambitious plans for the future. I am looking forward to helping clients tackle the challenging healthcare landscape and supporting the continued growth of our national practice.”

This summer Bevan Brittan announced its eleventh consecutive year of revenue and profit growth, with revenue increasing by 13% to £76.2m, and profit up 11.2% to £18.9m in the 2023/24 financial year.
