The law firm Bevan Brittan LLP has reported successful growth in both revenues and investments for the financial year 2018/19.

Key financial results were:

  • Turnover: £46.0m - up 4.5% (2017/18 - £44.0m, 2016/17 - £39.2m)
  • Net profit: £9.97m - up 4.2% (2017/18 - £9.56m, 2016/17 - £7.8m)

Bevan Brittan's managing partner Duncan Weir said: “This has been another strong financial year for the firm and since 2012/13 we have, over the last 6 years, organically grown our revenue by 40% and further improved net profit by 62%.

“We have built upon last year’s excellent growth in revenue and profit, at 12% and 23% respectively, and invested in new systems and processes to support our clients, attracted new talent and begun refurbishing our offices.

“The firm has a clear strategy for a balanced client portfolio that focuses on local and central government, the NHS, independent and social care and the wider housing sector – we have also successfully expanded into new markets including energy sustainability, manufacturing, insurance and technology. As a result we now advise more than 800 businesses across the country.

“During the year, we have recruited senior legal professionals that have broadened our offering in specialist areas including corporate and commercial, regeneration and property, information law and the digital economy.

“Seven years of excellent continuous revenue growth has given us the solid financial performance platform to invest in and maintain excellent service delivery for our clients and to begin introducing true agile working across the country and our office environments.”

Bevan Brittan welcomed 300 new clients, including Barchester Healthcare, Shawbrook Bank, RehabilityUK and United Communities and continued to advise a range of clients, including across the NHS and Local Government; Places for People; A Shade Greener Finance Services; Great Western Air Ambulance Charity and Engie.

Key investments during the year, included:

  • Upgraded IT Infrastructure with a new practice management system and new software to further support agile working
  • Bevan Brittan completed the refurbishment and expansion of its office space in Leeds and London as the firm prepares for further growth
  • Three new partners joined the firm, including an industry-leading legal team based in London - led by partner Wendy Wilks – focused on property, housing and care sectors.

Joanne Easterbrook was reappointed as Senior Partner of the firm, and is serving a further three-year term. She said: “Our clients rightly expect the very best advice and expertise from our legal professionals, and we were delighted that we achieved another strong set of rankings in both the Chambers and Legal 500 legal directories. We also continued to win accolades – including two Legal Advisor of the Year awards at the HealthInvestor Awards.
